WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama has effectively clinched the
Democratic presidential nomination, based on an Associated Press
tally of convention delegates.
The tally put Obama over the top Tuesday, ahead of the results
from the day's final primaries in Montana and South Dakota. The
Illinois senator becomes the first black candidate ever to lead his
party into a fall campaign for the White House. Obama outlasted
former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in a historic contest and
now faces Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona for the
presidency.

I don’t feel any comments were personally-directed towards me. I just wanted to make sure that nothing I said was taken as a personal attack.  I enjoyed the discussion very much.  I am the type of person who tries the see the good in everyone.  Nothing more..nothing less. Let’s just hope that whoever wins the presidential election is the right choice for us all.

Determinedone,

At least we agree on some things: #1 Wright should NOT be a pastor. Christianity is about loving EVERYONE as your brother. Doesn’t matter your skin color or nationality. #2 Everyone wants to believe in hope and change, and a better world for future generations. But, I for one would like at least some sort of “plan.”

When you go to college, to pursue a higher education, you do not just say, I think I’ll take this class and this one to get my degree. You have a plan. Same with any major events in life-buying a home, starting a family, etc.

I’m not sure why you feel comments made, were personally directed. I have not seen anything directed to you as a person, just the fact that most on this forum do not think Obama is a good presidential candidate. I personally don’t think we need more government handouts-free housing, socialized medicine. I believe people ought to be self-supportive, not government supported.

DeterminedOne:

You have still yet to point out why Obama is qualified to be president. It seems you are “dodging” this question much like Obama does.

Let’s put Mr. Wright to rest.  He’s gotten his 15 minutes of fame.  This was his goal in the beginning.  Anyone with common sense could see that.

I’m not trying to convince anyone here to vote for Obama, nor do I have state why or if I am voting for him.  I’m merely stating my opinion and participating in a discussion.

I’ve tried to make sure that my comments are not personal in nature or to offend anyone.  It’s been interesting to see the responses that I have been getting.  So, to that effect, we will just have to wait and see what happens in November.  I’m sure there will be more mud-slinging done between now and then.

Good Day Everyone

I agree that his FORMER pastor (which I agree should not hold the title of REV) is sending the wrong message across his pulpit.  I’ve never ever said that he was right in anything he’s said.  Frankly, I’m not surprised that his congregation has not asked him to step down.  Obviously, there is a case of blind faith in this man instead of total faith in God.  I also admit that some of the ideas that Obama has about changing things are vague, but even having the best well-laid out plan doesn’t guarantee its success.  As long as you have the end result that you want to achieve in sight, this is what most important.  We are such an impatient country. We want or expect things to happen overnight.  We often have unrealistic expectations on our leaders.  It’s only so much they can do without our help.  You can have a million people wanting things to get better (lower gas prices, better housing, health ins. for all) but it takes times and changes to make these things happen.

I have listened to his speeches, all I hear is “hope and “change” not “how”.

That being said about Imus, Rev. Wright’s statements were recorded on CD’s for sale through his church. Does that not effect some FCC regulation? I don’t think everyone is focusing on JUST the Rev. Wright (and I hate to give him any respect with that title, because he is obviously not preaching Christian values with his hate). But look at his comments about his WHITE grandmother-threw her to the dogs didn’t he? He has made so many stupid remarks, along with his wife, they could make a sit-com out of it. Why are you really voting for him? Tell us what he will do for this country. Be specific. Doubt that will happen, because even HE can’t be specific. I don’t believe anyone with any common sense will vote for him, because he is too vague. So what will people base their vote on?

If you’ve been following his campaign, his qualifications do not need to be explained.  I’m merely stating that those are the reasons why you should make your choice on who you want to be President. Nothing more...nothing less.

What are his qualifications?

I do not condone what Don Imus said nor Rev. Wright.  No one had even heard of this Rev. Wright until one of his members decide to run for President.  Then all of a sudden it’s such a big deal.  Frankly, I’m tired of hearing the Rev. Wright excuse concerning Obama.  All I’m saying is that you cast your vote based on his qualifications not because of things his FORMER pastor has said.

Futhermore, Don Imus lost his job because of his own stupidity.  He really thought he could make such ignorant statements on the air to millions of people and not receive any backlash from it??  He should have been fired, as well as anyone else, who makes those kind of statements over the radio.  It’s apparent that Don Imus felt that he was beyond the laws of the FCC.  I’m sure he will think twice if not three times before he opens his mouth again.
