ThyssenKrupp Steel will soon be setting up an office in Mobile to begin the process of moving their operation into Alabama. The German Steel Maker will build a multi-billion dollar facility just outside Mt. Vernon in North Mobile County.

News 5's Tiffany Craig traveled to Duisburg, Germany to find out who's working at ThyssenKrupp and what you can expect if you get hired here.

If you get hired by ThyssenKrupp steel, you'll get to travel to Duisburg, Germany! Bob Soulliere is the President and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA. "We'll have them a place to live so that they learn how the steel mill operates and they get proper training. Then, we'll bring them back to the U.S. and they'll be a key part of our team." For the 2700 new workers, Soulliere will be the boss!

While you're training in Germany, you might get to meet Frank Trager. He's a TK foreman and a newlywed. He likes the job but admits the schedule is tough. "I don't like the shift models because you have early, noon and nightshift which means family is suffering."

Sefa Bastug is a shift supervisor and tells us that the steel business can be stressful. "It's not physically hard but the pressure is there because we want to run good quality. We have pretty difficult customers." Most of the workers we met have worked for ThyssenKrupp for years and are proud of it. Ralf Burgard has worked here for 20 years. "This job has a lot of future for me and makes a lot of fun. I'm very proud to do this job."

However, only Soulliere and a few key people are coming to our area. "So, we take a sprinkling of people from Germany and bring them over... Some key knowledge people especially that would help us get the plant started. Clearly, we are going to hire a lot of people, Americans!"

The first round of jobs will be 29,000 construction jobs.  When the German team arrives next week, we should get more info on that.
