Congressman Norm Dicks represents Washington. He has been a U.S. Representative since 1977. He serves on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. He spoke out on the GAO recommendation that backs Boeing's protest over the Air Force tanker project. Hear his comments by clicking the video tab.

And what happens if the Air Force does open it to bid again, and they still pick Northrup-Grumman? Is Boeing going to continue to whine? From some of the comments I’ve heard from Big Dick, it sounds like he will pull out every trick in the hat to make sure Boeing gets it. So what’s in it for him? Obviously, his concern isn’t for the military, so could it be his wallet? Can Bush not veto these decisions if it comes to that, and let the building of this tankers commence?

Chicago based Boeing will do everything possible to push this contract into next year with the hopes of having Chicago based Obama in the White House.

Does any one else smell PORK and see UNIONS?  Dicks looks the part of carpetbagger and I sure wish he would open his campaign ledgers so we could see who fills his pockets.  Sounds like “springer” material to me. boeing, boeing, boeing.

It is a Southern thing because only Southern men have big enough balls to fight our battles.

NO! they don’t think we’re Americans, just a breeding grounds for the people they need to fight their wars for them. As one lady said, and i use that term loosely, when ask about her sons possibly serveing in the Military,” I thought that was a southern thing”. That says it all!

i guess to make it fair to boeing and satisfy their senators and congressmen the GAO should narrow the bidding process to exclude any company not a subsidiary of boeing.next time get the rules of engagement right ‘before’ you open the bidding process..not cry foul ‘after’ your team loses..dick!

Does this jerk think we aren’t Americans in the South??  Seems like he needs to be educated - although, he must have enough education to know how to pad his pockets!  This whole thing is disgusting.  What happened to free enterprise?  It has always been the American way to bid on jobs, and the best bid got the contract.  Oh, I forgot - this jerk doesn’t think we’re Americans down here.  Sad, sad, sad…

WARNING: Don’t make the mistake of reading any message boards in Seattle or Kansas.  It will make you want to secede from the union again!

HMMM-Dick(s)name fits doesn’t it? Sorry, he just makes me want to scream-talking about an American plane, built in America, by Americans! Are we a communist state down here? All that fat and turning so red in the face can’t be healthy-maybe he’ll have a coronary and shut up. JK
