German steel giant ThyssenKrupp is expected to break ground on the new $3.7 billion dollar steel mill in Calvert next month. Today, they announced another contract award to a German company called SMS Demag. ThyssenKrupp Construction Contract Awarded

German steel giant ThyssenKrupp is expected to break ground on the new $3.7 billion dollar steel mill in Calvert next month. Today, they announced another contract award to a German company called SMS Demag.
The company will build two key elements for the steel operation in north Mobile County.
SMS Demag will construct what's called the cold rolling complex and the hot strip mill.
The plant is expected to open in early 2010.
