The winning Air Force Tanker Team took over Downtown Mobile to celebrate and talk about what's next.

A week ago, Northrop Grumman and its partner EADS learned that the 40 Billion dollar Air Force refueling contract was theirs.

The deal will bring 15-hundred high tech jobs and a 600 Million dollar facility to Brookley Field.

While Mobile was talking about the win, Boeing officials were being briefed by the military about why they lost.

If Boeing decides to protest, it could hold things up for 100 days while the investigation goes on.

If there is no protest, the tanker team will break ground out at Brookley Field in the next month!

I’m about in the same boat as you BAMABOB.I have been retired for eleven years now and about the only thing it will do for me is raise my property taxes, because i plan on living here till i die,but it should help my kids, grand kids, and great grand kids in one form or another. To borrow the words from MARTHA,"I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A GOOD THING”.

Boeing has never built an aircraft minus help outside American boundaries.  Never, ever has Boeing been totally dependant upon U.S. workers.  Those claims are just scare tactics used by an aging monopoly in this country.

Let fresh ideas lead us into a new age where the southeast stands tall!

This contract does nothing for me.  Retirement is just around my professional corner, but it could have an enormous impact on my kid’s future.  In ten years this town will be unrecognizable and I will be long gone…

This has all been gone over in great detail in the past three years and by some pretty smart people, not all of them ,but most. The bottle neck for large aircraft in the usa is boeing, you had a choice of boeing or an aircraft built entirely in another country. If for some disaster we were to lose boeing,we would be at the mercy of another country, now we will have a third option for large aircraft, and if after some time it was necessary be fully independent of any other country,we could assemble it all in mobile. It’s ok for military personel to have an opinion, but not to be able to vote on which war to fight or what equipment to use,i think we know how that would go,there would be so many different opinions, nothing would ever happen.Having an aircraft assembled in the usa, made with all american parts, would be Ideal, but even boeing can’t pull that off.this is,i belive,a good third option to have for the nation.

I am not Boeing, nor am I a representitive of Boeing!!  I am a proud member of the U.S. Air Force and have been for the last 13 years. I have followed the tanker contract for the last 10 years or so. As you can tell by my screen name 135BOOM this contract is very important to me and numerous other enlisted aviators. So striaght from the warfighter, Boeing is the best aircraft manufacturer to build our next tanker!

I can’t believe that our community is backing and entrusting AIRBUS, yes that is correct AIRBUS, with producing the next U.S. Air Force Air Refueling platform!! We can’t even trust them to associate their name with their airplane. They are using Northrop Grumman and EADS as a front and to lie to the American people!!!! The aircraft is not American, AIRBUS is not American, and to use Northrop Grumman and EADS as a front to gain access to America is just wrong!! Airbus is a foriegn company and the KC-45 is a foriegn aircraft. Stop lying to the public by using Northrop Grumman and EADS in your news stories and tell them who is really making the aircraft, AIRBUS! I also ask that News 15 reporters ask the politicians, NG, EADS, and AIRBUS representitives why they feel they must carry out this lie to the American people!!!! I also must ask that you tell the American public that Airbus doesn’t even have a flying FAA approved prototype air refueling platform. Boeing on the other hand does have an FAA approved air refueling platform. Boeing has been in the aviation business longer and has fifty-five more years experience in building U.S. military grade aircraft than AIRBUS! Plus if Boeing recieves the tanker contract it would mean 20,000 more American jobs than what AIRBUS is offering Americans! Stop the LIES, stop the AIRBUS contract and put America first by using Boeing to build our next generation tanker!!!!!!
