A group of local businessmen called Alabamians to Build American Tankers (ABAT) created 3 controversial radio ads. Their plan was to air them in Washington D.C. for members of Congress to hear.

We learned on Thursday that the group temporarily pulled those ads because Congress is set to go on summer break this week. The commercials will start running again when the politicians go back to work in September.

The commercials fire shots at Boeing over the 40 billion dollar tanker contract. You can listen to the commercials by clicking here

Here's Boeing's statement about the ads.
"Boeing is the largest aerospace employer in Alabama. These ads are an affront to our more than 3,000 hard-working, highly-talented employees and their families in the state. They are also clearly a sign of desperation in support of our competitor. The ads do a disservice to our customer, the men and women who serve our country, more than 160,000 Boeing employees, and to Northrop-Grumman/EADS. The GAO ruled that the recent tanker competition was seriously flawed and that the award to Northrop-Grumman/EADS should be recompeted. Our focus will remain on the new competition and getting the best technology to the warfighter and the best value to the U.S. taxpayer."

The Mobile County Commission recorded a new Tanker Talk radio show that will air on Clear Channel stations this Sunday. Commission President Steve Nodine says they don't get down and dirty on the show, they get down to the facts "Our role is to maintain the factual information of the tanker project. What we're trying to do to provide high paying jobs to the citizens of Alabama."

Alabama Governor Bob Riley and Jim McIngvale with Northrop Grumman were two of the guests on the show. McIngvale says "Tanker Talk" is a helpful tool to the get the facts out. "It points out things that are said that are not accurate but you can do that without climbing down into the mud pit where others are attempting to go. We've said many times over the last two years... this is a program that the two companies could lose on our own but we can't win it without the support of the local community."

If you want to listen to the newest edition of Tanker Talk, you can access the show this weekend by clicking here
