SEATTLE (AP) - Starbucks Corp. has named all 600 company-owned
stores it plans to close in a bid to boost its business and weed
out unprofitable locations.
12 of the stores are in Alabama. They include five in Mobile,
two in Birmingham, one each in Huntsville, Homewood, Vestavia
Hills, Orange Beach and Gulf Shores.
Closing the stores is a turnabout from Starbucks' aggressive
expansion plans. The coffee chain is responding to recent declines
in its profits and foot traffic as the faltering economy has led
some consumers to question their spending on pricey java.

Tried it once while traveling with a friend, stuff was to expensive for the awful taste it had.  I’ll stick with my Community Coffee, great taste and still cheap.

I got a cup once because someone insisted I try the laddi dah doodi doo something topped with whacahmacallit.  Didn’t care for the stuff.  I like coffee flavored coffee and tea flavored tea.  I like it cheap too!

do you know i have never gotten the first cup of coffee from starbucks. who can afford that coffee on a regular basis.

I’m told the Starbucks at Government Plaza bit the dust as of 8/30.  What a rise and fall that business has had.

Oh no! That just means all the idiots that actually think Starbucks is good will be crowding up Satori and Carpe again. :(

Starbucks SUCKS, try Tim Hortons instead! HAHAHHAA, no wonder they going out of business! 5$ for a cup of coffee, no way I’d pay that when I can get my XL cup-o-caffeine @ Tim’s for only $1.37 tax included! It’s not like it actually gets cold enough in Mobile to need coffee to survive, not like it is here in Ontario anyway! When you wake up and it’s -30C(-22F) you need that cup to get the nerve to go out and shovel ya car out the snow!

i am sorry to see any store close.  i hate it for the employees, but mobile does not get as cold as like washington, portland, etc where they started.
there were to many of them.

My brother the coffee lover calls theirs burnt offerings! But I’ll tell you ask for their spent grounds for your garden. They will give you all you need!

I like coffee flavored coffee and tea flavored tea!  Never would I spend 5 bucks on a cup of that Starbucks stuff.  They sure killed the market by putting one of their stores in competition with another one of their stores.  Guess the one in Govt. Plaza will survive for a while longer, which is amazing.
