Joint statement by Gov. Gregoire and Gov. Sebelius on Air Force tanker contract
OLYMPIA – Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius today issued the following statement:

“Like many of our fellow citizens, we were shocked by the Air Force’s decision to award a multibillion-dollar military contract to a foreign company. We cannot understand that at a time when our economy is struggling, the Bush administration would send American jobs and American money overseas.

“The decision is particularly surprising to us when Kansas and Washington have the best manufacturer of airplanes with the best work force in our states. These are high-wage, high-skill jobs — exactly the type of jobs we need to keep in America.

“We’ve been in contact with Boeing representatives and they will meet with federal officials to discuss the contract. We will support Boeing in its decision about whether to appeal the awarding of this contract.

“We also support our respective congressional delegations in asking very tough questions about this decision, and stand ready to work with them to make sure the award of the tanker contract protects our workers, our taxpayers, our military personnel and our country.”

True,BOEING has been building planes for at least 50 years and some companies have been building bicycles for over a hundred years, but i would still rather ride in a car than a bicycle.Boy oh,boy have i been sleeping,i didn’t even know we had seceded from the union again.I gotta go and get me another cup of coffee and wake up,but wait that probably would be unpatriotic since it’s grown in a foreign country, what a dilemma.

It is almost laughable that these politicians are now crying foul!  Where were they when Boeing was embroiled in scandals dealing with contract improprieties that cost the tax payers billions of dollars?  Where were they when Boeing used espionage to squash competitor Lockheed?

I agree with you atbman.  We dumb southern folks are selling “spring” water to the smarter northern population too.  However do we survive?
I hope these two governors don’t ever run for President, they have shot themselves in the foot.  Oh, thats right we are the dumb ones.  Sorry, I forgot.

To me they are saying we are to dumb and slow to build airplanes. We will just have to prove them wrong.

So is she shocked because she thought Boeing Bribed the right people this time to make sure they got the contract again?
