Senator Richard Shelby's response to Defense Secretary Robert Gates's decision to accept limited rebidding on the Air Force refuelign tanker contract:

“This is the best of all options,” said Shelby. “It is important to remember that out of Boeing’s 111 complaints, the GAO concurred with a mere seven. The plan the Department of Defense has come up with is an appropriate solution to remedy the minor procedural flaws the GAO found in the initial award. It is vitally important that members of Congress support this expeditious path forward that not only satisfies the recommendations offered by GAO, but also ensures that the Air Force’s urgent and compelling need to field a tanker is met as quickly as possible.”

rmseek1234 , boeing knows they have stolen this contract. our reps. know it,  i admire eads to even try to win it.  they bid fair and square they learned a lesson of the land of the free.  i am very angry with the ones who get paid to represent the state of alabama, because they sat back and let boeing steal this contract.  they may have had to let them have their protest, but to stand there and say whats going on now is the right thing to do is crazy. there were only 7 errors the geo found fault with. gee this is bad.

Our commissioners say-we won it once, we will win again. Boeing says, we look forward to delivering the first tanker from our Boeing strip in Wichita. If Boeing had enough power, clout and money to get those AF people fired, do they not have enough power, clout, money to “buy” this contract right out from under NG/EADS?  Since this decision is becoming politicized, and not a military decision, will this not bode better for Boeing. I think NG/EADS better be watching this process, just as closely as Boeing, or they are going to get screwed.

carl , yes thats it, but the sad thing is they are better than whats up on capital hill. or even running right now. its really sad. they sat back and let boeing steal this contract. unbelievable.

And now you see all the politicians do their disappearing act. They fade into the background and become part of the furniture in the shadows. Out of sight, out of mind, until the next election.

working4u, you were not trashing her. you were saying the truth, she is a liberal. she has not spoken out not one time on something so important.
if elected it will be her job to speak up on important issues. if she can not do it now she will not be able to represent this state if elected.  so far the only people speaking up to compete with tahrt, are one on wpmi. he confronted lou dobbs, the rest are a on this board.

Besides all of that what’s with her hair?  That is a strange lookin’ doo!

rosepetal-I didnt mean to totally trash Vivian Figures as a citizen of our state, but she just rubs me the wrong way on a number of issues in Alabama. Could she have stepped up to the plate and made a difference? Maybe. But if it is not in her best political interest or the issue is too complex, she tends to remain the silent one.

cmb1 , yes she could be up there at least saying something.  this school board is so messed up they just need to shut it down. and let each school take over their own bussines. the teachers and principals are quite capable of handling things without the school board,. the mobile county school board is a waste of tax payer dollars.

rosepetal are you talking about Vivian Figures? I agree we need to do something about the school board, too!

working4u , i really did know that, but she could still work for alabama.  its really sad, i have been on boeings, eads, airbus and northrop grumman. so far the only one with anything to say is northrop grumman.
