MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Gov. Bob Riley has met with
business officials in Santiago, Chile, hoping to attract business
for Mobile's new container terminal.

Riley met Wednesday with Fernando Valenzuela, a senior vice
president with CSAV, a worldwide shipping company based in Chile.

The company owns 109 container vessels and more than 270,000
containers. Valenzuela told Riley he expects container shipments at
U.S. Gulf Coast ports to increase by more than a million containers
a year by 2009.

Riley asked company officials to consider using the new
container facility at Mobile when delivering containers to the
United States. Riley said the Port of Mobile is an ideal place for
shipments to enter the country. He said shipments can be sent up
Interstate 65 to the midwest and Canada.

I thought I got what you meant WORKING4U and who you were mimicking, I got a chuckle out of it. You seem to be like me,about sometimes having trouble getting our humor understood.

rosepetal- I was being sarcastic. I was mocking the jerk in the legislature that was speaking against the insurance reform we needed here on the Gulf Coast in the last session of the legislature. The north Alabama legislators want a cut of the revenues from the container buisness but do not support our bills to make insurance afforable down here. Sorry, Didnt mean to get your blood pressure up.

Southern born and Southern Voter.

“I live 400 miles from the coast and I dont have to be for your container port”. Oh, I meant to say “insurance bill”? Well let me re-think this. New Industry? State invested dollars. Workers for this new industry need to be able to afford homeowners insurance down there. Woops, I must have stayed out in my corn field too long. I stuck my foot in my mouth. Duh..which way do I go? Which way do I go?

Sorry,

It’s Not about him talking up the shipping and receiving facility, It’s about who will receive the most benefits from the profits created by this. I don’t think where the money goes should be controlled by people in our state government that could care less about the people in the southern part of the state. If you think wanting more of the money to be used in the southern part of the state than what we get now is complaining then consider me complaining.

Oh give me a break… The Gov talks up Mobiles new shipping/receiving facility with a company that can specifically use it, and you want to complain?!

Yep! It usually depends on what the Birmingham and Huntsville areas want. We usually get hind tit as we used to say on the farm many years ago.

Yea, got to get our taxes so he can spend all over the nothern part of the state but, only pennies in our area.
