WASHINGTON (AP) - The Defense Department will wait until the
next administration to award a disputed $35 billion contract to
build a new fleet of aerial refueling tankers.
Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Wash., says the Pentagon has canceled the
latest round of bidding between Boeing Co. and Northrop Grumman
Corp. for the 179 planes, and now plans to hold a new competition
next year.
Northrop won the contract earlier this year, but the competition
was reopened after the Government Accountability Office found fault
with the decision.

Mobile has always been an ideal location for such industry, but has been inhibited by both local and national politics.
. This City would have ensured that the Air Force got the best product at the best price!

Wentworth, what are you some 10 year old? your comments are those of a child, I assume by them that you do not live in the area or just moved here, because ANYONE from Mobile, even though we have problems here, loves this area and wants to see nothing more than to have a better economy and more jobs for us. Our main local concern right now is this annexation b.s. with the mayor but overall IF you were from here you would want to see better things for all the area. As for whining we WON the deal, but the other side threw fits in Washingscum DC and ruined it.

This city did not deserve this contract. Our business environment sucks! Both sides were whiney, immature brats, from our governor to our local officials. Let Russia build us a tanker!

Boeing’s headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. A guy from there happens to be running for president, so the Pentagon has pushed this contract into next year.

what are they going to do wait until boeing has settled there dispute, hell no make bid it now.That was the deal you ask for a price here it is , if boeing can’t put a plane in the air tell them to go back to Washington.
