WASHINGTON (AP) - The Defense Department will wait until the
next administration to award a disputed $35 billion contract to
build a new fleet of aerial refueling tankers.
Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Wash., says the Pentagon has canceled the
latest round of bidding between Boeing Co. and Northrop Grumman
Corp. for the 179 planes, and now plans to hold a new competition
next year.
Northrop won the contract earlier this year, but the competition
was reopened after the Government Accountability Office found fault
with the decision.

Does wentworth know about the major faults that Boeing in Seattle sits on and near and are over due for a big one like California, the bad weather and strong winds. Forget the weather angle wentworth, try something else.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell except for all the payola that must be going under many tables right now.
. Northrop needs to sue Gates.  They have spent millions going after this contract and Gates yanked the rug out from under them.

Let me see if I have this straight.

Northrup wins contract.
Boeing complains.
During review, it becomes apparent that Boeing is behind and would not be able to deliver on contract.
Boeing ticks off employees and is now in protracted labor strike.
Politicians decide to give Boeing more time to catch up, resolve labor dispute, and design a better plane by putting off contract until next year, at which time they hope a new group of politicians will be in place to better help Boeing.

Have I missed anything?

Boeing and the Gov’t continue to prove that the Best for our Country is not as important as the Best for Them!

Good point!  A hurricane is about the only natural phenomenon that can be predicted well ahead of impact.

Yes, hurricanes are a fact of life for this area, but does that mean everybody should shut down, and move for six months of the year? NO it means that most people ORIGINALLY from the south have learned to adapt to it and overcome the problems and make plans for such things. Most all area of the country have thier own natural problems, wildfires in the west, snow/blizzards in the north, earthquakes, tornados.  So we deal with it, but this shouldn’t be a concern be cause of all of these items, Hurricanes are atleast known about and we are able to plan for well in advance

About 30 miles to the west Northrop-Grumman has been building this nation’s destroyers for a number of years and weathered most storms.
. Your argument is silly and lacks credibility.

wentworth you have to be from the NORTH because people in the SOUTH would never make dumb comments like you have…

So, if you are the Air Farce, do you really wanna build something as important as your re-fueling tankers, in an area where hurricanes are a lifestyle
six mos. out of the year? Disruption to the work force, physical damage to half assembled tankers, all the disruptions to everything that all you in here know all to well. I cant prove that this was ever a consideration, but who knows. Anybody with half a brain, would have to consider this being a prone location, therefore a strike against Mobile.
