Pelosi: Congress Must Examine Air Force Aerial Tanker Contract to Northrop Grumman and Airbus

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today on the Air Force’s decision to award a multi-billion dollar aerial tanker contract to Northop Grumman and the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, the parent company of Airbus:

“The Air Force’s decision to award the contract for a much-needed modernization of the nation’s aerial tanker fleet to Northrop Grumman and Airbus raises serious questions that Congress must examine thoroughly:

What are the national security implications of using an aircraft supplied by a foreign firm for this essential mission?
Were the risks associated with choosing a conceptual design over a proven capability properly assessed?
Was sufficient consideration given to the impact of the contract award on jobs in America and on our technological base?
“Given the ramifications of this decision for the United States, the Air Force must explain to Congress how it meets the long-term needs of our military and the American people.”

Why didn’t Pelosi quack about the Asian and Spanish contribution to the Boeing 767?

This is all about discrimination!  Pure and simple these liberal jerks do not have a clue about the New South.  We are perfectly situated to deliver this aircraft in record time!

Geography affords us things that Seattle and Kansas will never match!

Northrop Grumman builds our AMERICAN Navy, so get off the high horse and start making some sense!

I agree. They are just sore losers and they have always had a monopoly.  Pelosi and Northrop Grumman is based out of California.  What is she thinking?

Give me a BREAK!

Boeing is a fat, lazy monster that gave up on innovation and went toward pay-offs and smoozing to undermine the system.

Alabama will build a better plane with mor capability!

The above comments seem to misunderstand the debate.  Pelosi is supportive of Mobile, Northrup Grumman and Boeing.  Her questions have to do with why Airbus is being used.  Boeing has more experience and they are an American company!  Using Northrup Grumman and Boeing rather than Northrup Grumman and Airbus to fulfill the contract would mean employing more Americans and keeping the project American, which makes sense since it’s for our military.

Another article I read said that Boeing may have been misled, leading them to bid on the wrong size aircraft.

Ms. Pelosi has a lovely smile, one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen, actually.  See her recent interview with Charlie Rose.

This women has a negative disposition.  Look at her, she never smiles.  Remember her position at election time, vote her out.

I’m sure the Air Force will have a good reason for their decision. I wouldn’t get excited about the dems being disappointed in Pelosi though. They are all mad that Mobile got the contract, from what I’ve read on the net.

Whats it to her where this contract went, this will be such a boost to Mobile economy and now she wants to take it away????
She was a loss when she got speaker of the house… I hope people remember this when it comes time to vote for democrats.

Pelosi....... hmmmmmmm..... that kind of says it all!

I want her to explain why Boeing is not getting this much attention on a previous contract that uses an Italian frame to build that project on.
