to announce the winner of a major Pentagon contract to build a new
tanker refueling aircraft. Aerospace manufacturers Northrop Grumman
and Boeing are vying for the $40 billion deal.
Northrop Grumman has partnered with European Aeronautic Defense
and Space Company and said it would assemble its aerial tanker at a
plant in Mobile.
The Air Force wants 179 new planes to replace the aging KC-135
Stratotankers which have been in service for more than 50 years.
