Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine and Escambia County Commissioner Gene Valentino have joined forces to hand deliver a message all the way to London. Nodine says while the tanker contract has become a big match between two heavy hitters, the Gulf Coast isn't ready to drop the ball."I want people to realize this is a good use of tax payers money because we're out their working very hard in insuring that we're putting the best foot forward and showing that we have a great aerospace corridor here in the Gulf Coast,"Said Nodine before boarding a flight to Europe.
The two plan to lobby at the Farnborough International Air show in London in an effort to hopefully seal the deal with the tanker this time around. "We wish you the very best in getting this contract and you deserve it and you already won it and if politics stays out of the middle of it, you'll get it again,"Said Valentino. The two Commissioners plan to lobby for four days in Europe. Nodine says Gulf Coast leaders from Mississippi are also making the trip. A decision as to who will end up with the tanker contract, will not come until the end of the year.
