Northrop Grumman says the groundbreaking at Brookley Field, scheduled for next weekend, has been put on hold.

Wednesday, the Government Accountability Office upheld Boeing's protest of the $40 billion tanker contract and recommended the Air Force hold a new competition.

In February, the Air Force awarded the contract to Northrop Grumman/EADS which planned to build the planes at Brookley Field in downtown Mobile. Northrop planned to break ground on its new facility June 28, but put the project on hold Thursday until the Air Force decides what to do with the GAO's recommendation.
