Japan again to pursue economic development and educational
opportunities. Riley says he will be in China October 10 through
13. Then he will be in Japan October 13 through 17. While in Japan,
Riley will lead the Alabama delegation at the Southeast U.S.-Japan
Association conference. He will also meet with corporate
executives.
Currently, 65 Japanese companies operate in Alabama, and they
employ more than 14,000 Alabamians. Riley says Japan is Alabama's
fourth largest export market.
Riley previously visited Japan in 2005 and China in 2006.
He says the trip to China will set the groundwork for a larger
trade mission to the country next year.
