The Northrop team won the 40 Billion dollar Air Force contract at the end of February.
The two companies have said they will assemble the new fleet of air refuelers at Brookley on almost 200 acres of land.
Boeing formally protested the win so the deal is on hold. The Government Accountability Office is looking into the fairness of the contest.
The June 28th groundbreaking hinges on the opinion of the GAO. That opinion is expected by June 19th.
If the government body finds no flaws, it's time to dig in!
Local leaders are also planning a celebration on June 20th.
Northrop officials say their hangar will be complete in 18 months. EADS plans to have its facility up and running by the summer of 2010.
