The official word will come from Defense Secretary Robert Gates. You can watch his news conference Live on News 5 at Noon and on wkrg.com.
So if Boeing does not win this time are they going to protest the decision again? If they are really for America then they should not delay this tanker anymore. I can see it now—- January 2009 Boeing agains protest the tanker decision to the GAO and says that this is going to cost America 44,000 jobs. And we are back at the same spot only a year later. All Boeing cares about is the shareholders and the amount of profit. I know businesses are there to make a profit but you have to draw the line somewhere.
Oh it’s becoming clear now…it keeps rebidding until it’s finally handed to Boeing. Absolutely unbelievable. I have lost the last little shred of faith I had in the govt for allowing this whole process to continue to occur.
What will keep this out of court forever? Did they put a clause in it that no one can sue this time?
Did I hear it right or did mr.gates say the way the selection process went would be closed or something like that?
Well, on the surface it sounds like all the pressure will be on Boeing to change their bid and probably go with the 777. On the other hand, NG has already put all their cards on the table and the loser gets to go line by line through the winner’s bid and adjust accordingly.
Would be nice to know who will be on this new selection committee and what their political affiliations are….
Well…I hate it..but its not really a surprise to me…like I said before…it takes the monkey off of everyones back…and its the politically correct thing to do. So…Much Politics involved in this ####…political favors etc…on both sides of the coin. But I still feel that the NG/EADS product is better and hopefully it will at some point win outright. Sad though…our Air Force folks have to wait longer when they deserve better.
I think Gates is feeling the heat from Congress and cannot afford a delay of funding for this project. I think he is going with the lesser of the two evils, re-bid vs. funding delays. A rebid is less time consuming than fighting a battle with Congress over funding delays.
bamabob, where is Nodine. gee
Listening to Nodine it sounds like Boeing will have a chance to change their bid based upon the 7 issues the GAO pointed out. How crazy is that? Can you imagine telling a low bidder that now that you know his price you are going to give the other guy a chance to lower his bid? You would hear the screams all the way to the state line in both directions! lol

OK-does NG/EADS get to rebid any part of the contract, or is this just for Boeing? If NG/EADS can get in there and pull a “real estate deal” for lack of better terminology, they might keep it after all. Just my brain working overtime here.
