When parts of Schillinger Road and Mobile Terrance became apart of the city back in September, Mayor Sam Jones promised more security and emergency response times for the area.
Wednesday, he told News Five that so far, he's making good on his word.
There is already a new police precinct near the airport and soon a new fire station will open in the same spot.
Last week 49 officers were promoted and Wednesday 14 fire fighters moved up in rank.
Some of them will work in the annexed area.
"Everything that we said we would do, we're in the process of doing and we're trying to do that in a planned matter so we can have it all in place in a short period of time," said Mobile Mayor Sam Jones.
The new fire station is expected to be home to 52 fire fighters.
They'll be housed in a trailer, but will get a new building in about a year.
