Just like I said, these people want to live outside the city but don’t want to live without the nice services.

Unfortunately for you and others who think the same, the antiquated Alabama Constitution which not enough people want to reform prevents the city from discontinuing any services in the area that voted “NO” because they ARE within the Police Jurisdiction and Mobile is required to provide those services.

I would love to see the city of Mobile discontinue ALL SERVICES in those “NO” areas and let’s see how quick the insurance rates go up. We need to completely pull out of the areas that want services for nothing.

I just hope ya’lls beloved mayor don’t try to find a sly way to annex Baldwin Co. into Mobile City:).

I totally agree with rodgersw13 below.  I, too, will change my shopping habits.  I also live equidistant from the stores on Schillinger Road and the stores at Tillman’s corner.  I will do all of my shopping in Tillman’s Corner unless the courts overturn this election.  I urge everyone who able to do the same to shop in Tillman’s Corner with us.  If enough of us stick together on this, there WILL be a financial loss to the tax revenue and the businesses that are being annexed into the city.  When that occurs, the city and those businesses will take notice of our movement.

All businesses outside the city limits who are within five miles of the city limits collect 7.5% tax rather than the county rate of 4.5%.  That 3% goes to the City of Mobile for police and fire protection.  Now the people who shop in the Schillinger district will pay a total of 9% to subsidize all of the City of Mobile.  It is a crime that less than 200 people made a decision that affects thousands.

Why pay for something that we Mobilian’s give you free?  I’m glad area A voted their self interest as well.  Now Mobile will spend the money to provide the needed fire and police protection to ALL of the PJ so they will not be a further drain on the response times we city residents are paying for.  The PJ is entitled to the value of services based upon the business license fees paid…about $800,000.  Surely, you PJ people don’t think the 4,000 of you will buy enough to give the city anywhere near 10.5 million…get real..most of that money will come from city dwellers and county people.

I’m glad to be in, recently my wife suffered an emergency and almost died. the fire dept. police and ambulance arrived in record time and saved her life. MOBILE Mayor Jones Thank You for taking the risk. I will happily pay the taxes for the services.
I live in area 1, Mayor come back at this community again and I’ll vote yes again
Most of my neighbors are just afraid. I dont live in fear
Keep up the good work

Now that the undemocratic annexation proposals are history, our shopping will change.  We live in the county about equidistant from the stores on Schillinger Road and the stores at Tillman’s corner.  We of course had no say in voting more taxes on ourselves.  Therefore all our shopping will move to Tillman’s Corner.  We look forward to the new WalMart opening at the corner of Cottage Hill and Dawes Roads.  Now Home Depot will lose our business as we will shop at Lowe’s at Tillman’s Corner.

Congratulations Mayor Jones on getting that tax revenue for the city. Next once the motorsports complex is built then you will find a way to annex Prichard. I hope the city of Mobile is as happy to have me out of it as I am thrilled not to be a part of it any longer.
