Mobile is and always has been run by a bunch of CROOKS…the judicial system members and politicians and school board are a joke and think they are “above” being answerable to their actions. TWO TIMES…again, TWO TIMES West Mobile said NO to being part of the Mobile vaccume but Sneaky Sam found a way to dice up the area to get the most profitable portion….Its sad that they have found a new area that they can RAPE and PILLAGE for their own personal gain….Our money is not going into their pockets????? I LAUGH IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION if you can’t see it. I’m Pensacola bound baby and Mobile can kiss my East Bound you know what.

I am not a resident of Mobile Co., but have traveled 100+ miles for years to purchase my big ticket items there.  West Mobile was my shopping area of choice…now, sadly…I will travel North into MS to spend my money.  Wish I could have voted down there…I guess all the people who didn’t show up to vote were working…?  They’ll need to get a 2nd job to pay those taxes.

To start with the finally divided the area to make sure they would get the business district incorporated. To one commentor, if they turned off the services to the others the City would have to give up the 1.5% tax they are receiving from them which there is no way they would give up money to get money. They weren’t going to stop until they got that revenue from those businesses. They need more money to spend.

Same on you West Mobile. Shame on you SAM. WKRG needs to look into Sam’s sisyer working in the main office at Bishop State. Do the math, find the money.

You voted, you are now Mobile. Enjoy the ride of having your cash spent for you.

Stupid Stupid Stupid!

Well I want be shopping there anymore.
I glad there building a new walmart This was all wrong if you ask me.  The people need to stop building there business and go out more now we need more business out towards snow road.

And then watch the shopping go down out on schillinger Road.

This just goes to show you that people need to exercise their right to vote.  There was less than a 40% turnout at the polls.  Had everyone voted in area A there may have been a different turnout.

There are more people who shop out on Schillinger Road, other than the ones who live out there.  We all will be effected by the tax increase.

I too live in west mobile and I can tell you I will not be shopping at Lowes or Home Depot anymore.  I will take my busssiness where the city can’t get their greedy hands on my money.  This vote was not fair and did not include us in the vote.

Totals without gerrymandered districts: For: 327 or 38%, Against: 532 or 62%.
Just 27 people in area “A” effectively voted to double the business license tax for all of the businesses in the affected area.  The same 27 people voted a sales tax increase from 7.5% to 9% on all of the people who shop in the affected area.  I would guess that this easily impacts 100,000 or more nearby residents.  Can anyone in their wildest dreams say that this was a “fair” vote? It is a supreme example of “taxation without representation” and proof of the greed of the Mobile politicians.  Who says that all of the pigs are banished from the city of Mobile?  Now they will just have more of your and my tax money to “wallow in”.

There is a flaw in your thinking, Terry.  I live inside the Mobile city limits and pay the same taxes as any other resident of Mobile.  However, I strongly disagree with the way the annexation lines were gerrymandered to try ti insure the Schillinger Road business district was annexed into the city.  Also, now Area B is an island surrounded by the city.  From everything I have read, that is illegal.  The courts will ultimately decide the outcome of this vote.  I also disagree with the people who will now reside in the new 3 mile police jurisdiction and 5 mile planning jurisdiction not being allowed to have any vote in their increased taxation.  This country was founded because of taxation without representation.  That is exactly what is happening to those people in the 3 and 5 mile jurisdictions.  Are you doing anything to help with Alabama Constitutional Reform?  I am, so the unfairnesses in Alabama are eliminated.
