Ida Landfall Overnight
November 09 2009
Ida makes landfall in the middle of the night as a moderate Tropical Storm. It will cross our coast somewhere around the time of high tides so storm tides will include tide and storm surge and range from 3 feet to 6 feet in the worst areas. That will be defined by where it crosses the coast which could be anywhere from south Baldwin County to along the Florida Panhandle.
Strong east winds will push water westward so the western shore of Mobile Bay along with Dog River needs to be ready. Inland winds may gust over 40mph but the one thing we'll all feel is rain. Most areas pick up a couple of inches while some spots could see 6 inches if they get caught under heavy rain bands.
Be alert for rising water late tonight and rising rivers for the next few days. Ida clears our area during Tuesday morning so by Tuesday night we return to quiet, dry November weather with seasonable temperatures.
