A Gulfport teacher is accused of molesting a former student. Police arrested Catryna Martin Friday and charged her with felony molestation and sexual battery. Police say the victim is a 14-year-old girl. Martin is a science teacher and girls basketball coach at North Gulfport Middle School. But, police say the incident happened off campus, while Martin tutored the victim. The Harrison County school superintendent says Martin has been suspended without pay, "we think we have a good school district, a good school, but, you know, when these kind of things develop then we have to take action," said Harrison County Superintendent Henry Arledge, "I look at it as if it was my daughter every decision I make, make it for the benefit of the children just like it was my child going to school and I think that's the way every school teacher ought to be." The superintendent also tells News 5 some students at North Gulfport Middle are upset by what has happened, so extra counselors were brought in Monday to help them deal with the news.
