An Ocean Springs, Mississippi police officer shot and killed a pit bull that charged him. OSPD Public Information Officer Michael Pol says officers had been called to a home on Lafayette Circle to investigate complaints of an aggressive dog. Neighbors told officers the tan pit bull had almost bitten someone walking down the street, and had been a constant concern of neighbors.
Pol said after making contact, officers tried to calm the dog while waiting for an animal control officer to arrive. While waiting, the dog allegedly charged an officer, who fired his weapon. After being shot, the injured dog ran to a nearby street. After being captured by animal control officers, the animal was euthanized.
