Pascagoula city leaders broke ground Thursday on a new Senior Center.

Located on the former site of Carver Village Housing Project on Live Oak Avenue, the center is a dream come true for both seniors and the city. It will feature a large common area for gatherings and events, a ceramics/pottery room, an arts and crafts room, an exercise room, and a game room. The building will also have internet access, a medical screening room, a gift shop, office space, and a commercial grade kitchen.

“This is such a blessing," said Senior Center Director Melanie Caver. "We have so many seniors and the list grows daily. We can sure use the space.”

The Senior Center is expected to be completed this fall.
