Mississippi's cigarette excise tax of 18 cents a pack is the
third-lowest in the nation.
Legislators want to agree on a cigarette tax before they finish
a state spending plan for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The
full House and Senate are scheduled to return to the Capitol on May
6 to complete the budget.

Instead of crying about the cigerette tax, why not devote your energy to getting the politicians that are raising your taxes removed from office! That would seem to be the logical thing to do

Why dont they go ahead and tax fried foods, paper that isnt recycled, people who dont recycle, cars that have smoke coming from tail pipe, etc…, I am a smoker and getting tired of being hit like this. Why not tax on to the medication that the elderly need to survive, or asthma inhalers. I understand the difference, but hate that they can single people out by this. Next comes the ban on smoking in cars or in public at all. Glad I dont live in Mississsippi.
