Broomfield is proposing a statewide ban on cell phone usage. If the bill passes it wouldn't ban cell phone use completely, drivers would be required to use a hands free device.
"The ultimate goal is to give the authorities the opportunity and options of stopping you and reminding you that you're not complying with the law. If you can save one life and I think we will save quite a few with this law than it's worth it," Said Broomfield.
The bill will be presented during the next Mississippi legislative session in January.

People multi task all the time while driving. Eating a burger, smoking, changing a radio station etc. This is the type of law, if passed, will get many people ticketed that are not even using a phone. How so? If your involved in an accident and the officer see’s you have a cell phone then it will be assumed that you caused the accident and you will be cited as such. Be careful about the freedoms you give up with laws like these. It only opens up an Pandora’s box of problems for you in the future because people do not think.
