JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi lawmakers adopted a resolutionFriday commending the career of slain football star Steve McNair, a
Mount Olive native who set records as Alcorn State's quarterback
before playing 13 years in the NFL, most of it for the Tennessee
Titans.
McNair's funeral is Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss., a week after
he was killed by his girlfriend in a murder-suicide in Nashville,
Tenn.
The resolution praised McNair's charitable contributions and
called him "a remarkable athlete who was a role model for all
young quarterbacks." It did not mention how the 36-year-old
athlete was killed.
