Looking at pictures, Jerry and Andrea Johnson remember their son Glyn. “If he was in the air, he was happy,” says Glyn’s mother Andrea. “Glyn died doing what he loved.” Authorities Glyn was flying his plane late Friday night when it went down in Louisiana. His 13-year-old son Nelson Dolbare and 39-year-old girlfriend Tabitha Dolbare also died in the crash.
“Tabitha was a jewel,” says Andrea. “She was the best thing that ever happened to Glyn.” Friends and family describe the 39-year-old pilot as a man who lived life on the edge.
“He started jumping off of things when he was three years old and so you prepare yourself for, they're going to do it you can't stop it,” says Andrea. Glyn and Tabitha's home in Gautier has pieces of Glyn's adventure life-style, like a trailer for an old skydiving business. Praise for the family is almost universal. No matter who you talk to on this street, neighbors say Glyn Johnson was a good guy.
“He was friendly with everybody it didn't make any difference if he knew you or not he was going to speak,” says neighbor Debbie Gill. The Johnsons say Tabitha and young Nelson were reserved and quiet. Jerry and Andrea say they were the perfect match for the outgoing Glyn.
“He never let you get down he was always lifting you up, joking around, making you happy,” says Andrea. The crash leaves a hole in this family that won't be filled soon.
