Officer Derrick Welton stopped a Ford F-150 truck near the Franklin Creek exit of I-10 for having a cracked front windshield and improper tag, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The driver 39-year old Juan Antonia Chavarria of Diboll Texas allowed authorities to search his vehicle. While searching the vehicle Officer Welton and his K-9 partner discovered 28 pounds of Marijuana inside a spare tire underneath the truck.
Chavarria has been charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Authorities believe Chavarria intended to distribute the drug. If convicted he faces 30 years in prison and $1 million in fines. *Photos provided by Jackson County Sheriff's Office
