A man suspected of raping a fifteen year old girl nearly two decades ago is finally charged with the crime.

Lester Selmon, 47, was arrested Wednesday at his home in Pascagoula.

The rape happened in 1990 at an apartment complex on Eden Street, but it was considered a cold case until the victim, who is now 39, went to the Pascagoula Police Department last December asking investigators to take another look.

New technology applied to a sexual assault kit performed years ago resulted in the DNA match.

Another rapist off the streets.  I am glad the victim went back to the police and asked them to take another look at the case.

DNA evidence is hard to deny, glad they caught him.

Fry Him!

Time is the seasoning for revenge IE justice how many times did he relive this and think he got away with it.I am glad that they were able to bring this young lady some sense of justice let’s just hope that the sentence is proper for the punishment he has committed on this lady.

Well, I went and looked it up. There is no statute of limitations on rape in Alabama, but in Mississippi, there is one of 2 years unless the victim was between the ages of 14-16.

Isn’t that a capital crime?  I don’t think there is a statute of limitations on such a crime.

I’m glad he’s behind bars, but still I thought you couldn’t pursue a case like that after 7 years. It’s been 19 years since the crimem, and 14 years since the minor in question became an adult.
