NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued three people who were stranded near Gulfport, Mississippi off of a marshy island early this morning.Coast Guard Sector Mobile recieved a call for assistance at approximately 1 a.m. from the Harrison County Sheriff's Department reporting a grounded boat with three men aboard were needing assistance. The boat was located near the mouth of the Wolf River and the men had waded to a nearby island.
Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew to the rescue the men.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene and spotted a signal fire the men had made. The crew hoisted Jeremy Necaise, 24, Johnathan Goodman, 20, and Paul Albrechet, 25, and transported them to Gulfport General Hospital.
