GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - The Coast Guard says it has found a skiffand two people missing overnight from a charter fishing boat 20
miles south of Gulfport.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Stephen Lehmann says the captain of
the "Due South III" called about 9:30 p.m. Friday to say that one
of its skiffs was missing near the Chandeleur Islands, with two
people aboard.
He says a helicopter out of New Orleans and a rescue boat out of
Gulfport searched for the skiff Friday night, but were unable to
find it.
On Saturday morning, the Coast Guard's newest marine patrol
aircraft - an HC-144C Ocean Sentry - found the missing skiff.
Lehmann says the plane's crew guided a second skiff from the Due
South III to the boat.
