The Green Bay Packers have traded Mississippi native Brett Favre to NY Jets according to Fox Sports. For most of the day Wednesday, Bay Watch focused on the other Bay, Tampa Bay. The Tampa Tribune, which is owned by WKRG News 5's parent company Media General, reported the legendary quarterback would be a Buccaneer by days end.
When Favre landed in Hattiesburg, his Mississippi-based agent said a trade, either to Tampa Bay or the New York Jets, might happen as soon as today. But no one, not even ESPN which quoted the Tampa Tribune article, thought Favre would ever end up in the Big Apple.
The trade is reportedly for a single draft pick that rises in value depending upon how the Jets perform this season.
Count on News 5 for continuing coverage of this breaking story. Favre is expected to be introduced tomorrow in New York. We'll carry his press conference live on wkrg.com.
