boating accident in Harrison County that left one man dead and his
brother in critical condition.
Jim Walker, a spokesman for the state Department of Wildlife,
Fisheries and Parks, on Monday said no charges have been filed in
the case. He said the incident occurred after officers with the
wildlife agency attempted to stop Conley Bernius, 26, at a safety
checkpoint Saturday on Tchoutacabuffa River. Walker said Bernius is
accused of fleeing the scene. He said Bernius' boat hit another
vessel.
Walker said 24-year-old Christopher Webb was killed in the
crash. Webb's brother, whose identity wasn't released, was
critically injured. Walker didn't have an update Monday on the
teen's condition.
Walker said it could take up to six weeks to complete the
investigation.
