JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A lawmaker in the fattest state in the
nation says he wasn't trying to offend anybody by filing a bill
that would ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers.
He says he never even expected his plan to become law.
Republican Rep. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) of Gautier says he was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi.
Mississippi is the first state where more than 30 percent of
adults are considered obese, according to a 2007 study by the Trust
for America's Health, a research group that focuses on disease
prevention.
The Center for Consumer Freedom, a Washington-based nonprofit
group supported by restaurants and food companies, blasted the
no-serve bill in Mississippi.
A senior research analyst for the group, J. Justin Wilson, says
today (Monday) such bills strip personal responsibility out of the
obesity equation.

Well I have heard it all!!!  I am obese and I can tell you I wanna see someone try to take a burger from me.  If this crazy law was passed I believe it would cause more eating disorders not to mention mental disorders.  Guess we need to come up with a new organization (FPR) Fat People Rights.

He seems like the perfect man to be concerned about obesity. Reminds me of when that tub of goo Dr. Phil sold millions of women diet books.

I think this is just assinine.  Can you please move on to more important matters in this country!  Perhaps, people killing their children, the officials that are being charged with crimes.  If people choose to be overweight, it is their choice, you are not a GOD!

I think it`s a wonderful idea!!! I wish somebody would have stopped me before I got fat! Thank God, I lost the weight, and now I do not go there!!!
And as for the lady that said ” not all obese people have issues with portion control” If that`s the case, they most likely won`t eat fast food! People with a physical reason for being overweight, they monitor thier diets and I doubt they are the targets in this issue!

Imagine having to step on scales before being able to buy mcdonalds or burger king or going to eat a buffet at one of the casinos,or having to go across scales with your car to weight it to see if any fat people were hiding in it in adrive thru lane.Only way the ACLU would get involved in it would be if it made any sense, since it dosen’t it probably is okay with them.

Without us , who’s gonna keep the food place in business. LOL
do you think skinny people eat that much alone. We have alot of
money invested in our fat rolls…

I’m surprised that this has not gotten attention from the ACLU as this most certainly identifies an attempt to discriminate against a specific population base.  Additionally, not all obese people have issues with portion control.  There are any number of diagnoses that could place an individual into the “obese” category.  Whether it be portion control, a metabolic disorder, or other healthcare diagnosis, we need to treat the cause not the effect.

I think he was trying to protect himself from getting any fatter because he would be banned also. HAHAHA!!!

are you kidding me? come on get serious. look at this man. he is not so skinny himself.

No words can say how stupid this is.
