Mary Smith is always on the move in Baldwin County since she came to News 5 in August 2017.
She came to us from WTAP/WOVA in Parkersburg, West Virginia. During her two and a half years there she was a reporter and a full-time anchor/producer.
The Philadelphia, PA native won an Associated Press Award for ‘Best Reporter’ in 2016 for the states of Virginia and West Virginia.
Before graduating college from Temple University with her BA in journalism, Mary had the unique experience of being on-air in the 4th market at Fox 29 WPXI as a ‘Junior Reporter.’ She produced her own stories and presented them on the weekend morning show.
She also completed a full-time internship at Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate WPVI in 2014.
When Mary doesn’t have a camera or microphone in her hands, she’s usually running, at the gym or doing something creative.
However, her job is what she loves the most. She got into journalism because she has an interest in so many topics, loves to meet people and work in a fast-pace environment.
