Dr. Randy Roth in Pascagoula is seeing a fair amount of Community Acquired – MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) coming mainly from infected wounds. MRSA is resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics. Dr. Roth is helping patients through professional surgical care, appropriate antibiotics, and hyperbaric treatment when needed. Some basic information regarding MRSA can be helpful in prevention and treatment. Dr. Roth says, if you have a skin lesion / boil that is more red than not, the skin is warm to touch or hardened and oral medications are not lessoning these symptoms, you should check with your physician. Good clean skin is always a good rule. Hand washing is essential especially in public places like day cares, stores and restrooms.
