For weeks, some people have said they don't understand what's going on with plans to reform health care in our country.
Tonight, President Barack Obama is supposed to make everything crystal clear when he speaks to the nation and congress.
A spokesperson for the White House says people will finally know where the President stands on big issues like the so-called public option - a government run health insurance.
The topic sparked heated debates at town hall meetings across the country and even on capital hill.
When things got hot in the kitchen, some have even claimed the President stepped back and let lawmakers take all the heat.
"The President is in a tough spot. Liberals in his own party are angry with him, republicans aren't buying what he's selling. And the public has heard him time and time again and they've just been confused," said CBS News Analyst John Dickerson.

Web Wednesday:

After weeks of debates and confusing information, should President Obama give up on health care reform or stay in the fight?

We want to hear from you.

Has anybody read the bill or are they gonna believe the lies, lies, lies. President Obama said,“the hospitals, doctors and pharmacy companies are all in approval of the bill”.  An associate of mine who sales medicine to doctors (that’s how they do it to get doctors to prescribe it) told me, while talking about job security for himself, that his company along with some other companies donated 85 million dollars to the government so they would remove medicine from the bill. Medicine is the highest cost we have next to hospitalization.  I say when the bill is complete, send a copy to every school in the country to be read for all who want to come and listen. won’t cost near as much as the speech to the children. Then see how popular Mr. Obama and his bill are.

i do agree reform is needed and the differences are how we get there. i do plan to watch the the President tonight, i really havent heard him give too many speeches, i heard he is a great orator. we all might be surprised in the morning. anyway have a good night, if you choose to watch the speech, otherwise i am sure there will be a story on here tomorrow about it. i am planning on actually working for a few days and should be on the road.

Clay - Obama has changed his “focus” multiple times when it comes to this legislation.  It started out as “Health Care Reform” and the intent was to bend the cost curve downward.  When the CBO came out with their numbers saying not only would it not bend cost down, it would bend them upward, the effort turned into “Health Insurance Reform.”  So, Obama, Pelosi and Reid then started trying to paint insurance companies as evil, etc.

I get an annual statement that spells out every dime of my compensation package and that definitely includes insurance.  See, that is part of the deal, when we have a system based up employer provided insurance.  There is no mystery about that as far as I am concerned.

However, you are missing an important point.  All sides would like to see reform that would address rising costs, pre-existing conditions, portability and competition.  How we get there is what makes all the difference.

oh and bob, find out what your employers contributuon is to your coverage. add that to what you pay. okay and remember your employers part and oyurs is pretax. are you still happy paying that much for healthcare? like they told us for joe the state employee his coverage is 800x12=9600(states pays this, you and me)  a year plus his 15x12=180(He actually pays this part)  for a 9700 a year cost. thats a huge chunk of his salary, and a huge tax liability for you and me. a government alternative with about the same coverage for 1/3 of the price and blue cross will have some incentive. you can either continue to pay the 815 minus whatever we would contribute to the governemt plan or switch. and if blue cross wanted to keep your business they would come up with a product that you might pay a litlle more for but less than you are paying now. like these privatized medicare plans. its not actually healthcare that is being reformed but how we pay for it.

these are the most current set i could locate, it included the big three all simtaniously posting at the same time, figured this was more of a balanced set, than the extreme right or left. rasmussen has him at a 43% approval rating. it will be ibteresting to hear the speech and see the numbers. oh, he isnt WRITING the legislation, the house is. he is just delivering to them what he want it to do its up to them to hash it our. we want these guys on board and want thier inpt but wont comprimse on some things. sometimes your the windshield, sometimes your the bug.balls in your guys court.

Health care is humane.

Those numbers are fairly old, considering this is 09/09/09.  Most of the big boys do daily tracking polls.  It will be especially interesting to see his numbers tomorrow.

http://www.pollingreport.com/obama_job.htm

show his ratigs at above 50%. currently at 53-56% even fox has had him at 53-56% the past few months. depends on which polls you believe i guess but fox’s are on there

WASHINGTON – An Associated Press-GfK poll says that public disapproval of President Barack Obama’s handling of health care has jumped to 52 percent.

The same survey shows that 49 percent now disapprove of his overall performance as president. In July, just 42 percent disapproved of how he was handling his job.

Interesting read…

Finally, President Obama argues in his op-ed that Democrats’ proposals “will provide every American with some basic consumer protections that will finally hold insurance companies accountable.” Of course consumer protection sounds like a good idea. And it’s true that insurance companies can be unaccountable and unresponsive institutions—much like the federal government. That similarity makes this shift in focus seem like nothing more than an attempt to deflect attention away from the details of the Democrats’ proposals—proposals that will increase our deficit, decrease our paychecks, and increase the power of unaccountable government technocrats.
