Have you ever thought that your environment could be making you sick? One Fairhope chiropractor says that's a real possibility. It's not your usual way of treating illnesses and it may not be for you, but his patients say it works for them!Short URL: http://wkrg.com/a/15959/
Dr. Kyle Lopez has been a chiropractor for years, and strives to live and teach the importance of healthy lifestyles.
"My goal as a chiropractor is to remove things that prevent body from healing itself,” said Dr. Kyle Lopez, “Toxins are a huge interference."
Dr. Lopez says toxins can range from common household items like certains soaps to more severe concerns like mold spores or lyme disease. They can be found almost anywhere and there can be a laundry list of symptoms.
"Weight gain, inability to lose weight, concentration and focus problems, depression, mood changes, and fatigue," are all symptoms he said.
There are several tests Dr. Lopez claims will reveal if a patient is toxic.
First he has his patients fill out a questionnaire. Then the patients take a series of tests that key in on the nervous system. And finally they take a blood test.
"It's not just i don't feel good,” he said, “it literally shuts down different systems of the body."
Bea Workman has been suffering with a digestional problem for years, and it recently resulted in a hospital stay.
So Bea took the toxicity tests.
"They found out i was very high in lead and mercury," Bea said.
Bea has since had the amalgam fillings in her mouth replaced, had filters put on all of her faucets, and is taking natural supplements including activated charcoal. The toxin reacts to the charcoal.
"It actually attaches to the charcoal and is taken out of the body,” she said, “you would take supplements to keep your body from losing the the things you want to stay."
Bea is also on Dr. Lopez's healing diet. She eliminated sugars and included good fats like coconut oils, avocaodos and nuts.
"It allows your body to go from being a sugar burner to a fat burner," said Dr. Lopez.
And Bea has another reason for taking this course of treatment, "I didn't want to spend the rest of my life on antacids or Prevacid."
Dr. Lopez shares Bea's goal, but admits that not everyone is a fan of his medical beliefs.
"With the body functioning at its full potential it doesn't need outside help to work the way its designed to work," he said.
Where other physicians are concerned Dr. Lopez says, "There is always fear of the unknown, certainly there are times when taking medications are good. It's just a lack of being informed on some the newest things they aren't familiar with."
Now Bea is focused on just one thing, " I look forward to being free from biotoxins!"
Dr. Lopez says that most insurance companies don't cover the nutrition or toxin removal part of his practice. But, he hopes by teaching patients how to be responsible for their own good health, he can save them a lot of money and pain in the future. We spoke to several physicians about this type of treatment and they all agree that proper diet and exercise are always the key to good health.
