GLOUCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A friend of the Massachusetts teens whomay have made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies
together says they seemed "curious" about her own pregnancy.
Christen Callahan had her baby when she was 15. The former
Gloucester (GLAH'-stur) High School student tells NBC's "Today"
show that some of the teens would ask her questions and talk about
how they thought their own parents would react if they were to get
pregnant.
But she says she has no firsthand knowledge of any pact among
other Gloucester students to have babies.
The principal tells Time magazine that the girls confessed to
making the pact after the school began investigating the rise in
pregnancies. He says some of the girls reacted to the news they
were pregnant with high fives and plans for baby showers.
Normally, there are about four pregnancies a year at the school.
Officials began investigating after at least 17 girls there became
pregnant.
