OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - A new study suggests that in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina, about nearly one in five Gulf Coast residents
experienced post-traumatic stress disorder.
The University of Mississippi study's findings, part of a
research project funded by the National Science Foundation, were
made public in August at the American Psychological Association's
annual conference in Boston.
Researchers say the level of post-traumatic stress disorder
among the nearly 400 residents sampled appeared higher than that of
an average citizen. They say the study was not an in-depth
interview process so the total number of residents suffering from
PTSD is unknown without additional follow-up.
PTSD is defined as a strong emotional response with specific
symptoms as a result of an event perceived as life threatening.

Amen to that Sweetnsour. Me and the wife know about buying cheap. I’m on social Security and we live on $ 1500 a month but we make it and we usually have enough to help other families out that are in bad times on many occasions, so it is so frustrating to see some one who has never worked more than a year at one time and is getting $2500 a month for PTSD and a few other minor things and them to tell you,and this has actually happened to me, that most people feel the need to work but they don’t and they just want what they are entitled to. After I have worked more than 50 years and paying taxes, it will make you grind your teeth and find it hard to bite your tongue.

Carl, this gives a whole new meaning to papa don’t sell the farm.  Well, hell they are giving it away. Money doesn’t mean anything anymore.  We live cheap and save our money, buy everything on sale.  They live better than us off a hand-outs.

The disaster is already among us, and it is us, we’re giving away the farm.

Oh goodness I see another disaster headed our way.  If they get diagnosed with PTSD they will be a down there filing for Social Security Disability.  I know someone that gets a SS check because she has PTSD because she had an abusive husband and went through a divorce.  Lord help us all that money was intended for the disabled not for the ignorant.

You really have to watch out for stress, that stuff is more contagious than the flu. I ‘ve seen whole communities come down with it in Nawlings when they thought the freebies were going to dry up after three years. Deadly stuff, that freebies stress, it’s been known to mutate to free room and board stress, catered meals stress and a lot others. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!

I can’t take the stress of knowing about all these stressed people, the governemnt needs to STOP sending them money and benifits and start sending them calgon to take the stress away, then they will all be relaxed and happy. Then my stress will be relieved and the taxpayers won’t have to pay for my therapy and compensate me for putting up with the stress of others.

Yea, I’m all stressed out over Katrina. Send me $5000 to $10000 so I can pick where I want to relieve my stress at,say Biloxi maybe.

If they give these same leeches more money over hurricane related woes because they are “stressed”, then they need to send me a check because I’m really going to be stressed out after hearing that.
