An 11 year old girl is dead and according to published reports, she may have died from an antibiotic resistant staph infection. Jackson County School District interim superintendent, Margaret Bush, tells us, they are mourning the loss of a Vancleave Middle School student. But, she says they don't have information about how she died. Bush also says there is no need for parents to be concerned. We talked with one mother of three, who says she's alarmed by the news. And since learning about it, she's been taking extra precautions to protect her kids," just constantly maintaining, making sure anytime they touch a door knob, anything like that, wash your hands, trying to keep them as clean as possible," said Melissa Overstreet. Interim superintendent, Margaret Bush, also says they believe this is an isolated case and does not see any need to test students or teachers. But, Bush tells us the school district will continue to investigate to make sure there are no infections of any kind.
