You might not worry about gaining a little weight at the holidays, but over indulging here and there could pack on the pounds before you know it. "Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, all kinds of occasions where there's a lot of tasty and high calorie food served," said Registered Dietician Dr. Carla Molper.
Calories do counT. men need about 2,000 d and women closer to 1,800 daily.
so when you do indulge, know what it's costing you.
"Because if you have a 500-calorie piece of cake, then you only have 1,300 calories left to eat for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner," said Dr. Molper.
Remember to step on the scale every now and then so you know when a pound sticks around.
"A pound a month is 120 pounds in ten years! And that's what happens when people don't weigh themselves," said Dr. Molper.
To lose one pound in a week, you need to exercise, or not eat, 500 calories a day.
One idea is to skip drinks, like sodas, fancy coffees or smoothies.
They can move out of your stomach quickly, but leave all the calorie damage behind.
