WASHINGTON (AP) - Drug maker Pfizer says it's pulling ads forits drug Lipitor that feature the inventor of the artificial heart.
The ads went into heavy rotation on television and in print in
2006. They feature Robert Jarvik touting the benefits of Lipitor, a
cholesterol-lowering drug that's the world's best-selling
medication.
But House Democrats say the ads could be misleading because
Jarvik isn't licensed to practice medicine.
The company says it will now provide "greater clarity" in its
advertising in terms of spokespeople it uses.
