Pittsburgh, PA - Just a few weeks ago, Senator Ted Kennedy died after battling a malignant brain tumor: a glioma. It's the most common kind of brain tumor in adults and kids.
A new vaccine study, designed to fight these tumors, is now recruiting young volunteers.
The vaccine is made from tumor proteins.
"We have found three proteins that are on the majority of patients' glioma cells. So not everybody may have all three, but most people should have at least one of the three. So then we take those proteins and we inject them into the patient. That's the vaccine," said Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist Dr. Regina Jakacki.

You must have a certain tissue type to be enrolled, and you must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh for the injections.
