MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama House has passed a bill toestablish a council to coordinate services available to help people
with autism.
The bill was sponsored by Representative Cam Ward of Alabaster.
Ward's five-year-old daughter Riley is autistic.
Ward says the council is needed because currently there are nine
different state agencies that provide services for the autisitc and
parents don't know where to turn when seeking help.
Ward's voice broke when he thanked House members for passing the
bill on a 99-0 vote.
