New Year's Day is just around the corner, and if kicking that smoking habit is on your list of resolutions, you don't have to do it alone. The Alabama Department of Public Health is offering free assistance to smokers who plan to quit in 2008.
The Alabama Tobacco Quit-line will provide counseling to those who need it. If you're medically eligible, you can also get a four-week supply of nicotine patches to help you stick to your plan.
The number is 1-800-quit-now.
The hotline is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
You can call after-hours and a counselor will return your call.
