Colon cancer attacks one out of every seventeen Americans. Many do not know they have it until it is too late. Former WKRG-FM disc jockey Scott O'Brien. He hosted "Mobile's First News" and "Ask the Expert" in the morning. Today he is a sports radio personality on WNSP. He recently was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
"I'll never forget the doctor telling me after he performed the colonoscopy that he didn't even need a biopsy because he had been doing this so long...that I had cancer. I knew what happens to people that have colorectal cancer and so I was worried," said WNSP Radio personality Scott O'Brien.
After surgery and several chemotherapy treatments, O'Brien is in remission, however, he still can't celebrate.
"Prior to doing this interview, I got a call that my brother Steve passed away, yesterday. He was diagnosed with cancer three months ago."
Lung cancer took Steve Griffith's life. Through his own pain and loss, O'Brien says the message he wants to share is the same for everyone.
"I don't know much about cancer other than what you know and that is, the earlier that it is detected, the greater the likelihood that the problem can be solved," said O'Brien.

Hang tough Scott ! That chemo is rough but it’s worth it! It’s been seven years now for me after surgery and chemo for stage 3 colon cancer. That’s why I say all the time ” EVERY DAYS a HOLIDAY AND EVERY MEAL’S A FEAST”. Best of luck Scott !!
